Elementary Camp

There are no audition requirements for the elementary camp in July. Master class instructors will evaluate students in groups for the purpose of assigning band parts (e.g. 1st trumpet, 2nd trumpet) in the music. There is no need to prepare anything ahead of time.

 

So, relax and join in on the fun!

 

Middle School Camp

There will be a place for everyone at Vivace Summer Middle School Band Camp. Auditions are only for seating placement in the band or bands. Everyone will be accepted. Students will audition on their instrument the first morning of camp on the following three areas. The chromatic and major scales are from the GMEA Middle School All-State Band requirements.

Winds and Mallets

• Chromatic scale
• Two majors scales selected by student from the GMEA Middle School All-State Scales
• One short sight-reading selection

Here are the range requirements of the chromatic scale for each instrument from GMEA:

Flute, Piccolo: Low C to High F
Oboe: Low C to High C
Sop. Clarinet: Low E to High D
Bass, Contra Cl.: Low E to High A
Bassoon: Low Bb to High F
All Saxophones: Low C to High D
French Horn: Low F to High F
Trumpet, Baritone T.C.: Low F# to High G
Trombone, Baritone B.C.: Low E to High F
Tuba: Low E to High F
